Due to snow and unsafe driving conditions in some parts of the district, all schools will be on a 2-hour delay today, November 30th, 2023, to provide additional time for buses to safely transport students to schools. This means that buses will run 2 hours later than during normal times. If you drop your child off at school, please remember that staff will also be on a two-hour delay. Full-day Pre-K programs are also on a two-hour delay. Morning Pre-K programs have been canceled. Afternoon Pre-K programs will operate on a regular schedule.

SFPS is working daily on immediate solutions to provide relief to families experiencing bus route cancellations due to the severe bus driver shortage.
Students from Early College Opportunities (ECO), Mandela International Magnet School (MIMS), Milagro Middle School and Santa Fe High School can walk or find transportation to their nearest elementary school, excluding Atalaya, Chaparral and Tesuque Elementary Schools, for transportation to their assigned school. For the trip back home, students would use the same bus route to return to the elementary school they were picked up from in the morning.
For example, El Dorado Community School Route 26 will leave the school at 8:00 a.m. to transport Milagro and Santa Fe High students to school. For the trip back home, students would use the same bus route to return to El Dorado Community School.
"Whatever elementary school is closest, outside the three elementary schools with canceled routes, can transport ECO, MIMS, Milagro Middle or Santa Fe High School students to school," said Superintendent Hilario "Larry" Chavez.
"Although we currently do not have the resources to maintain all bus routes, we will continue to work daily on solutions to help mitigate the impact this is having on our families. We are confident route cancellations are a temporary condition and look forward to restoring full service," he said. "We thank the SFPS community for its patience and understanding."
Interested parents are asked to please call SFPS' Transportation Department at (505) 467-3500. Additionally, parents transporting students in their personal vehicles will be offered a per diem for their assistance.
SFPS is also offering free, paid training on receiving a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a school bus driver endorsement for those who would like to become school bus drivers. For information and requirements on obtaining your CDL, please call (505) 467-3500 or visit https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/registration/commercial-drivers-license/how-do-i-get-commercial-drivers-license.
